Ward MkII

Sometimes I find I keep coming back to the same ideas without realizing that I've already done so. That's the case with "Ward MkII".

Like the original "Ward", this is built on a properly resonant Kristoff Guardrail cigar box with same choices of bright shiny chrome hardware. There are notable differences, though, which make this a unique build that still somehow rhymes with the original.

This build has double the chrome soffits for the sound holes, and packs a hot hex key slash hot rail humbucker pickup that nearly pushes the clean meaty tone into breakup. There are also some nice subtle harmonics going on with this box that really hold their own. The neck is maple, the fingerboard is rosewood, and it's all oiled up to show off the natural grain patters in the wood. It's a good enough look to do twice.

This is strung with 46/36/26 gauge wound nickel-alloy strings from Ernie Ball and tuned to DAD.
